Buy to Let Long Term Investment Investment Must Solve Rental Property Shortage

The buy to let option might be a valid one for buyers at the moment, but it is not as straightforward to get the funding as it was before the recession, the Hampshire & Home Counties Property Networking Club has remarked.

Hazel Reed, co-founder of the group, commented that before the financial crisis, it had been "stupidly easy" to secure buy to let funding.

"It was almost too easy really, which is why a lot of people got in and have had to pull out quickly. But I think if you're professional about it, [and if] you take care with what sort of properties you get and you get good letting agents, you can still get properties and mortgages."

She pointed out that there is still a shortage of property in the UK, which is why it is a good idea for landlords to get involved in the buy to let market.

"There are so many people wanting to rent at the moment," Ms Reed added.

Her comments were made after the National Landlords Association insisted that UK mortgage lending products designed to help buy to let landlords must be sustainable over the long term.
